MSME Registration FAQ

Every question startups and growing businesses ask about MSME and Udyam registration — answered clearly.

For Startups & New Businesses

Yes! Even a business started yesterday can register as MSME. The Udyam portal accepts self-declared figures — a startup with zero revenue registers as a Micro enterprise. This immediately makes you eligible for MUDRA loans up to ₹10 lakh, GeM marketplace selling, and startup-specific government schemes.
No. Sole proprietors don't need any prior business registration. You just need your personal Aadhaar and PAN. For partnerships, you need a partnership deed. For Pvt Ltd / LLP, the company/LLP must be incorporated first. But sole proprietors and informal businesses can register as MSME directly.
Immediately! Your Udyam certificate is valid from the day of registration. You can apply for MUDRA loans the same day, register on GeM marketplace within 48 hours, and begin the process for CGTMSE loans immediately. The sooner you register, the sooner you can access funding and opportunities.
Most agents just file your form and send a certificate. We take a growth-partner approach. After filing, we give you a personalised scheme report, loan eligibility analysis, and ongoing support. We help you actually benefit from your registration — not just hold a certificate.

Process & Documents

Just 2: (1) Aadhaar card of the owner/proprietor/authorized signatory, (2) PAN card of the business or owner. For companies/LLPs — also GSTIN if registered. No physical documents, no CA certificate, no balance sheet required. Everything is done via Aadhaar OTP verification.
NIC (National Industrial Classification) codes classify your business activity. Selecting the right NIC code is important — wrong codes can affect your scheme eligibility. Our team selects the correct primary and secondary NIC codes based on your actual business activities, ensuring you qualify for all relevant sector-specific schemes.
We file your application the same day you contact us. The Udyam certificate is generated immediately after Aadhaar OTP verification. Total time from first contact to certificate in hand: typically 2–6 hours. We guarantee delivery within 24 hours.

Benefits & Schemes

Key schemes: CGTMSE (collateral-free loans up to ₹2 crore), MUDRA loans (up to ₹10 lakh), GeM marketplace access, 25% tender reservation, 50% trademark fee rebate, electricity bill discount, CLCSS technology subsidy (15% capital grant), export promotion schemes, state government subsidies (3–5% interest subsidy). Our Growth package includes a personalised report showing exactly which ones apply to your business.
Yes. Under the CGTMSE scheme, MSMEs can get loans up to ₹2 crore from banks without any collateral or third-party guarantee. The government provides credit guarantee to the bank on your behalf. Requirements: Udyam certificate, 6+ months banking history, basic KYC documents, and a viable business plan.

Renewal & Compliance

The certificate doesn't expire. However, you should update your annual turnover and investment figures each year. The portal auto-updates your MSME category based on GST and IT department data. Our Growth package includes one free annual update in the first year.
MSME compliance includes: (1) Annual turnover update on the Udyam portal, (2) ITR filing with MSME classification, (3) Claiming MSMED Act protection for delayed payments, (4) Maintaining records for scheme applications, (5) Updating details when business changes. Our compliance service handles all of this for you.
